Biography: |
| Alison White was born in England, emigrating to Canada as a girl and was raised in the farming country of Langley. Her country upbringing has had a strong influence on her subject matter choices with a preference for barns and buildings, which she treats with a whimsical style.
Alison has long been involved in the artistic community. Her painting in both watercolour and acrylic have brought her much solace and pleasure for many years. She hasexploring the richness of pastel in her work.
She has been a member of the Port Moody Art Association for thirty years, holding positions of secretary, president and currently treasurer.
She is also a member of the Blackberry Artist society. The Blackberry Gallery gift shop is located in the Port Moody Arts Center.
Alison is also a member of the Passionate Outdoor painters who gave a number of shows, in Newestminster, Galiano, Port Moody arts Center and library. She was also very involved in attempting to save the Belcarra cabins, situated on the water in belcarra, through paintings displayed in the library of Port Moody.
Alison has always been very involved in the local community with positions on the library board, the Juvenile Court Committee and the Environmental committee. |
Associations: |
| A member and past president of the Port Moody Art Association she is also a past president of Port Moody Festival of the Arts Society. She is presently Treasurer of the P.M.A.A. |
Shows: |
| Alison has had local shows in Port Coquitlam and at the Coquitlam, Port Moody and New Westminster libraries, as well as the Silk Purse in West Vancouver. |
Exhibits: |
| Alison has exhibited in Port Coquitlam, New Westminster, West Vancouver and Burnaby. |
Collections: |
| Her work has been collected from Nova Scotia to B.C. Judith Forst, opera singer has several pieces and Cathy Scrimshaw, novelist is a collector. |
Instruction and Workshops: |
| Alison has attended many workshops under well-known artists such as Tony O'Regan, Kiff Holland and Maggie White. |
