I Was Just Thinking.....

Cosmos pendant

Every so often a stone calls out to you, especially when it's blue, and that's exactly what happened with this beautiful Sodalite. As soon as I saw it I thought of a night sky filled with stars, and so I created a modern, clean and simple setting that lets this beautiful stone take the focus, and call it the cosmos pendant.

Right now it's on display at Little Gypsy's Fine Jewelry in Port Moody, but I have a wicked urge to take it back off the shelf and put it around my neck :) One of the perils of being a jewelry maker!

Peace!

Because Valentine's Day is coming...

I've been working on hearts, small, medium and large, simple and a bit more complex. The challenge for me is to make many, but keep them unique. After all, how many ways are there to make a heart? We shall see :)

Peace!

Blue is my favorite color, but...

I came across these gorgeous carnelians a while back, and had never seen any like them. The only way I can describe the color is absolutely juicy! I decided that a stone with that color deserved to be highlighted with a very simple design, and so the carnelian drop pendant came to being. I picked up about half a dozen cabochons, so definitely more to come!

Peace!

Old is new again

Knuckle rings are an item I have worn since a teenager, so it's interesting to me to see that they have become "trendy" over the last few years. I've made a lot of different styles of them over the years, from the simple to the ornate, and one style or another can always be seen on my right pinkie finger, which is a funny place for me because that finger is misshapen and permanently bent from a series of injuries sustained as a tomboy, over a quarter of a century as a speed typist with that poor little finger perpetually curled over ready to hit the shift and enter keys, and that sneaky little creeper...middle age. Instead I choose to decorate it and love it for what it is, and appreciate the fact that even as un-sexy as it is, it's mine, and it still works very hard every day, in all it's bent up glory. Just don't expect me to use it as a model for the rings!

In the meantime, here is a photo of a 14 karat gold-filled knuckle ring, just one of the many to be found at Little Gypsy's Fine Jewelry, Gifts & Gallery in Port Moody, where I'm hanging out on this rainy Saturday :)

Peace!

Red tape and dragonflies

Well, a little red tape means I didn't quite get the doors open as hoped for. Arrrgggghhh!

You know, I am sure in the end it will all come together, so in the meantime I'm just going to keep banging out work and leave it in the hands of the universe (and the Port Moody Fire Department, lol) and trust that it will all work out.

As a stress reducer I sat down at my bench and just started working with no set direction. The result was this large dragonfly, textured and patinated, which is hanging out at Little Gypsy's Fine Jewelry. Can't open the door quite yet, but you can gaze through the windows!

Trust. All will work out.

Peace!
