So much purple!

I am always drawn to the deep jewel tones in cabochons, and while the blues will always be my favorite, there's definitely something to be said for a deep, juicy purple!

This 3-band stacking ring can be worn many different ways, making it versatile as well as beautiful! So while purple ain't blue, but it's not half bad anyway!

Peace!

A Valentine's wish

I wish you all a happy Valentine's Day, no matter how you spend it :)  I came home to flowers after working in the gallery all day, had dinner, and now I'm off to the garage to work. Good thing my honey has a good heart!

Peace!

Got the blues...in a good way!

Quality sapphires are getting hard to come by...and if you find one, the price can knock your socks off! I got my hands on some amazing lab-grown sapphires and can't be happier with the color...super vibrant, and as blue as blue can be...which for me is always a bonus. The hard part for me is to ignore the little voice in my head that screams "Blue! Shiny! Pretty! Mine!", and go ahead and make something :)

Lab grown stones are essentially identical to their natural counterparts, and often better, as they tend to be flawless, and of course, the affordability aspect becomes more reasonable.

This piece is a simple, square wire satin finished band ring, featuring one of these gorgeous sapphires...do I want to keep it for myself? Yup. Will I? Well...maybe, but for today, no.

Peace!

Chalcedony drop pendant

I've been lucky to find some really unusual stones in the past, and recently decided to create some simple pendants that really set off the stones, leading to the drop pendant series. whether it is the color that is unusual, the shape, or a combination of both, the drop pendant is a great way to let the stone be the focus.

Chalcedony (pronounced Kal-sidney) is a member of the quartz family, and according to some, is known as the speaker's stone, encourages reflection and meditation, and absorbs negative energy and neutralizes it. All that, and it's a gorgeous color too!

Whatever your beliefs, whether you believe stones were once living beings, or just beautiful works of nature, the desire to decorate one's body is timeless, and I will keep doing what I can to contribute to the options :)

Peace!

Art and Business

I love creating art. Jewelry, carvings, paintings and sketches...I'm there. Promoting it , on the other hand, much harder! Little Gypsy's Fine Jewelry now has a Facebook page, and I'm told what I must do is post pictures and comments daily in order to generate traffic and spread the word. If you're so inclined, pop by and have a look, like it if you really do, and I'll keep trying to learn to like this aspect of being a business owner!

Peace!

By the light of the moonstone

I would have ahard time telling you what my favorite stone is, but rainbow moonstones are definitely one of my favorites. I came across a small batch a while back that were so iridescent that they almost resembled labradorite, and couldn't resist picking up "just a few". I wanted to create a setting that really complemented the light shining through this particular cabochon, and after much thought, decided to set it in reticulated silver, which kind of resembles the surface of the moon. The reticulated piece is one of a kind, of course, because reticulation is so unpredictable, and the stone just shimmers....hard to do it justice in a photo, but I gave it a shot!

Peace!
